Become a Paid Election Poll Worker (2025)
There is no more important civic duty than voting. Each county employs citizens to help conduct elections.
Each County’s Board of Elections hires that county’s workers. Earn $21.43 per hour on in-person early voting days and $300 for working on Election Day.
Become a Paid Election Worker…
WHO CAN APPLY:
-
- You must be a United States Citizen and resident of New Jersey.
- Age 18 and over must be a registered voter in the county in which you reside.

The Working Together for New Jersey Election Integrity coalition works with each of the 21 New Jersey counties to monitor, support, and encourage citizen participation in the elections process. Citizens who apply for and are hired as election workers are called “poll workers” in New Jersey.
Each county needs Poll Workers in every election.

Another way to “work the polls”: While New Jersey law does not allow for “citizen observers” to oversee elections, the law does allow for “Challengers.“ Only the Republican or Democrat political parties can appoint and provide the legal credentials for their selected official party observers (known as “Challengers”) . Whether these Challengers are paid or not is up to the political party. The deadline has passed for the Party to submit its list of Challengers for the 11/4/25 General Election (10/14/25 – the third Tuesday preceding the election).
FOR BOTH JOBS – There are elections every year, and workers are ALWAYS needed.
